Arrow Rock was an important town along the early Santa Fe Trail. Arrow Rock was the location of the ferry crossing of the Missouri River. Once travelers crossed the Missouri River they were able to refill their water barrels in Arrow Rock at the Big Spring located there. This marker was placed by the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) in 1909.
