In 1950, the United States Department of the Treasury commissioned 55 full-sized replicas of the Liberty Bell. These were cast in France and given to states and territories of the United States and the District of Columbia to be displayed and rung on patriotic occasions.
Nebraska's bell has always been in Lincoln, the state capital but it was moved several times before finding a permanent setting in Antelope park. It was displayed in the state capitol building until the early 1990s and then it was placed in storage at a National Guards office. However, once a year, in September, it was taken to the state fair grounds and put on public display for the duration of the fair.
In 2005 the bell was moved to a new pavilion constructed for it in Antelope park close to a war memorial and a veterans memorial. The new setting was dedicated on Veterans Day, 2005.
