At the Bridge of the Gods Trailhead you are located at the heart of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic area, stretching from the Deschutes River west to Troutdale, Oregon.
The Gorge Trail #400 is a low elevation trail traversing below the high basalt cliffs of the Columbia River Gorge. While the grade is gentle, numerous rock talus crossings may be a problem. Wauna Viewpoint offers one of the best views of the Bonneville Dam.
Everyone who ventures onto the trail or the backcountry should have:
1. Map
2. Compass
3. Working Flashlight
4. Extra Food and Water
5. Extra Clothing (with raingear!)
6. Sunglasses
7. First-Aid Kit
8. Pocket Knife
9. Waterproof Matches
10. Candle and Firestarter
The Gorge Trail maintenance will be limited from December to March. Use caution when hiking the trail and be prepared to encounter snow as well as downed trees, slides, washouts and other debris.
