This stone statue was erected by Lord Clarence Paget the son of the Marquess of Anglesey erected this monument in 1873. The momument is a memorial to Lord Horatio Nelson who died at Trafalgar in 1805. The statue is mounted on a octagonal plinth.

There are three slate plaques on the plinth, which have the following inscriptions:

ENGLAND
EXPECTS THAT
EVERY MAN
WILL DO HIS
DUTY

and..

FELL
AT
TRAFALGAR

and..

TRAFALGAR
1805

The sculptor was Clarence Paget.
