The
Pere Marquette Lodge was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1933
through 1939, and opened in 1940. The lodge features a 50-foot tall fireplace
weighing 700 tons. The lodge was added onto in 1988 expanding it to 50 guest
rooms. The Lodge also has 22 rooms located in its detached seven stone cabins
which were also built by the CCC during the 1930's. The lodge and cabins were
listed on the National Register of Historic Place in 1985.
