Minutes of the Sandy Creek Baptist Association show that this congregation was admitted on October 24, 1829. The address is 227 Gum Springs Church Road. It is 0.1 mile northeast from the Moncure-Pittsboro Road.
At the site:
*Brick sanctuary and brick annex.
*Overflow parking on opposite side of road.
*Several-acre cemetery
*Old roadbed of the Pittsboro-Moncure Railroad (which ran from 1889 to 1985), on the south side of the property.
*Wooded areas, which are popular with bird watchers.
To reach from Highway US-1, take Exit 79. Go north about three miles. Turn right onto Gum Springs Road. The church will be on your left as you go up the hill.
