This statue of William Shakespeare was dedicated April 23, 1878. The statue was a give of Henry Shaw who has also founded Tower Grove Park and gifted to the city. The statue was sculpted by Ferdinand von Miller. On the pedestal supporting the statue are four raised relief panels depicting scenes from Shakespeare plays.
