While not the most skillful graffiti, the CSX railroad bridge over the Charles River passing underneath the BU Bridge, linking Cambridge and Boston, is a popular site for college students to show their school pride. The railroad bridge itself is rarely used (although the tracks are still active!) and one of the two trackways have been removed.
It's a newer pastime of Boston-area crew teams to use this bridge in particular to promote their school. While some have condemned it, it seems to show no sign of abating. Common schools seen on the bridge are Harvard, BU, Northeastern, MIT, and Tufts. While the graffiti is generally simplistic, it is fairly large and is highly visible from much of the surrounding area.
