The Swala Shala Forest Park is situated in the St Lucia National Park, a
world heritage site.
One can expect to see countless bird species including Trumpet Hornbills,
Knysna Louries, Kingfishers and Sunbirds. If you are patient you may see some
small animal species, on our walk we came across many common duiker and evidence
of leapord.
The walk is between 2.7 and 5 km depending on your route choice. There is no
entrance fee for this walk.
Please be careful along the Estuary as there are many crocodiles and hippo's.
They are not as cudly as they look!
The posted coordinates are to the 'official' parking area for the hike.
Walking down the trail you will come to a T-Junction where there is a maze of
trails to choose from. Use your breadcrumb feature on your GPS or you may get
lost.
