The original Filippi's Pizza Grotto is in Little Italy in San Diego. The Escondidio resturant has been here for 40 years and still does a great business. The Filippi Family has 10 resturants, but is not a franchise.
The menu is the traditional Italian: spaghetti, ravioli, lasagne, salads, soups. I love their pepperoni and mozzerla pizza.
The resturant doesn't look like much on the outside. The interior has bottels of Chianti hanging from the ceiling.
The address is 114 East Grand Avenue, Escondido, CA 92025. Open 11am to 10pm weekdays.
