The Hot Springs located in this park was known for its curative properties. The hot springs came out of the side of a hill at a temperature of 140 degrees F. Many bathhouses were built below the springs and the hot spring water was piped downhill to them. These bathhouses are now part of a National Record of Historic Places historic district. The Visitors Center is located in one of the old bathhouses.
The park also has wooded trails through the mountain and a lookout tower on top of the mountain. There are also scenic drives within the parks 5400 acres.
The visitors center is open all year around but is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years.
