This is one of a very few dam-controlled whitewater floats in Arkansas, perhaps the only one that you could really consider whitewater.

It is a fairly fun class II run with plenty of places to surf and play anytime they aer generating at 2/3rds (the most common generation schedule) but most of the play spots tend to wash out if they are generating at full capacity.

The major downside to this run is that they generally only generate during the week so unless you are retired or have something other than a 9-5 job you probably won't get to try it often.

Several small weirs are easily runnable and few rapids take much technical skill to run.

Parking/put-in/launching information:
Plenty of parking is available at both the put in (a picnic area) and the take-out (a highway bridge with gravel parking near the local swimming hole.)

Paddling conditions to be expected:
Fast moving class II whitewater with plenty of breaks and places to eddy out between wavetrains.

Difficulty of the trip:
Intermediate boat handling skills will suffice in addition to basic boater safety. A combat roll will keep you from swimming, but is not mandatory.

Length of trip: ~5 river miles/ 2-3 hours depending on play time.

Portages:
none

Permits required:
fishing permit to fish.

Type of trip:
shuttle required, easy highway roads.

Take-out Coordinates: N 34° 05.161 W 093° 42.431

Other information:
There is a fairly nice surfing rapid and picnic spot with access to the highway at N34 07.646 W93 41.628 even though as oft as not the picnic table has been vandalized by local teens. Better and more reliable tables are available at the put-in.
