Rigby Yard is the biggest rail yard in New England, operated by Portland Terminal Company, jointly owned by Maine Central and Boston & Maine Railroads (MEC and B&M, respectively). They were bought by Guilford Rail System in the early 1980's now known as Pan Am Railways since March 2006.

The yard and the roundhouse were built in 1920 to consolidate operations, which led to retirement of 3 B&M and 2 MEC facilities in the Portland area.

The roundhouse itself is no longer used, but there are 2 "stalls" added to the outside of the brick building which seems to be in use. The turntable is seldomly used, to turn around Maintenance of Way equipments.

Local railfans are welcome to post details/corrections about the location and its history.
Number of Stalls: 14

Year Built: 12/31/1920

Currently in Operation: Not Listed
