With the construction of Grandas de Salime dam, in the 60´s, the municipality of Negueira, bordering with Asturias, saw how the villages of Foxo, Vilar, Vilauxín, Cancio and Ernes were isolated of the rest of the municipality for want of a bridge that united them.
The boat of Boabdil bridge, constructed at the beginning of XX century and formed in its origin by only a central arc and nine of support, it was necessary to upwards elevate it with the construction of Salime dam, superposing to it another one so that it had more height.
