Redeveloping some hiking trails required a foot bridge or two. Shane with BS Troop 61, Valrico, FL worked with the state park on placement of this footbridge.

This Eagle Project is located in a newly open State Park in Lithia, Florida. Alafia River State Park North entrance has been used for a number of years by off-road cyclists, horseback riders and hikers. Within the past two years the current main entrance, campground and day use picnic areas were completed a bit further south.

The ranger station has trail maps, be sure to take one. The trails have many options with the only restriction at some points asking bikes stay off of horse trails and horse not use bike only trails. Hikers, watch out but it is truely a beautiful park.

The park is reclaimed phosphate pits that have been cleaned up and different interest groups have improved the trails. The most recent is this footbridge chosen by a young man in my troop to aid hikers only loop to cross an area that, when wet can be unpassable.
