Haitai is a mythical omniscient unicorn-lion believed to uphold justice and repel evils. These were placed to commemorate Korean peoples arriving in Hawaii.

These statues are replicas of statue found in front of the Gyeongbok Palace in Seoul, Republic of Korea. They were placed in commemoration of the centennial of the arrival of Korean immigration to Hawaii on December 25, 2000.
The lions are located at KEPANIWAI PARK which includes picnic areas, barbeque pits, walking paths and is ADA accessible
