This location is currently underway in it's cleanup program. The ground is saturated with coal tar which comtaminates the ground water and could produce hazards to surface waters as well.

The earth has to be dug up and heated to 800 degrees to destroy the contaminants. The treated soil is tested and if tests are ok, then the soil is placed back into the ground to fill the hole. Work started at the South end of the contaminated area and slowly worked to the North. After two years of processing the soil, the job is almost completed.

Streetside parking is available near the coordinates listed for the site.
