Not an Egyptian pyramid, but it has the shape and is has the word pyramid in its name. And everybody in California knows it and is proud of it.
For two years, from 1972, when it was finished until 1974, the Tranamerica Pyramid was the tallest building west of the Mississippi. It contains 48 floors of retail and office space and has a height of 853 feet (260 meters). The original owner, the Transamerica Corporation was sold in 1999, but the building is still strongly associated with the company.
