Tacoma Nature Center is a 54 acre wooded nature preserve located adjacent to Snake Lake at 1919 S. Tyler St. The center includes an interpretative center with exhibits, classrooms, and a lab. Over 3,000 children tour the center each year. This little preserve is just a few miles from downtown Tacoma and easy to reach. To reach it from I-5, take exit 132. Take a right onto S. 19th and turn left into the parking lot. The hours are: (Preserve) 8am-dusk; (Visitor Center) Tue-Fri 8am-5pm; Sat 10am-4pm.
There are 2 miles of nature trails through wetland habitat where people can glimpse the local wildlife. On the weekends various classes are offered for children and families. The center is also available for rental for birthday parties or even as a wedding facility.

Visitors should visit the Nature Center and post a photo of themselves (or GPS unit) either inside or outside of the nature center visited. Logs without photos WILL be allowed if a lenghty description of one's visit and a mention of what they learned is included.
