This totem pole, carved by British Columbia artist David Boxley, was a Disney enhancement effort. It created a performance element, along with a physical element, to the pavilion. Boxley came to Florida in 1998 and carved this totem "onstage" in front of guests to the park. It allowed the guests to interact while seeing something come into existence. There are also two other totems in the vicinity of this one, however they are made of fiberglass.
There is also a hidden Mickey at the top. Admission to Epcot is required to view this totem, and price varies greatly depending on type of ticket purchased.
