"The monument for Frans H.C. Aarts in Bergen op Zoom was founded in memory of the merchant navy officer with the Royal Rotterdam Lloyd, who was killed on April 30, 1943 when the ship he was on sank off the coast of West Africa.
The text on the memorial stone reads:
'IN REMEMBERANCE
