On the "Dienovidžio skveras" (Dienovidis Square) in Klaipeda, Lithuania,
ten abstract sculptures of various artists have been erected in an small
park. One of them is called "Juru medis / Tree of Sea" and was created in
2014 by
Rytas Jakimavicius. The sculpture depicts a kind of tree, but
instead of leaves and fruit, the treetop consists of swirls of water and
waves and red hemispheres on a black background.

"In Dienovidis Square, you can see ten stone sculptures created
by artists from various Lithuanian cities.
Dienovidius Square, a favorite of Old Town residents and guests, is the only
one in Lithuania where so many contemporary ceramic sculptures are exhibited
under the open sky.
After the success of the first project 'Public Dialogue' (in 2014), it was
clear to both gallerists and creators that the work they had started needed
to be continued. In 2017, the artists were offered to create stone
sculptures on the theme of marine art.
In total, there are 10 playfully shaped and volumetric stone works in
Dienovidis Square, breathing the spirit of the sea.
'Ant bangos/On the Wave' (Jurgita Jasinskaite 2017) 'Apsikabinimas/Hug' (Eugenijus Cibinskas 2014)
'Bangus roboticus/Robotic Wave' (Vilmante Žegulyte 2017) 'Bure/The
Sail' (Remigijus Sederevicius
2017) 'Demesio/Attention' (Egidijus Radvenskas 2014) 'Fosilija/A
Fossil' (Egidijus Radvenskas
2017) 'Juru medis/Tree of Sea' (Rytas Jakimavicius 2014) 'Laukimas/Waiting' (Isroildžonas Baroti
2014) 'Lietaus debesis/The cloud of rain' (Jolanta Knašyte 2014) 'Pajurio
barokas/Seaside Baroque' (Audrius
Janušonis 2017)
'The new cultural space introduces viewers to diverse contemporary art. It's
nice that the works have enlivened the image of the historic quarters and
are visited by people,' said ceramist Isroildžon Baroti, founder of the
Baroti Gallery, whose work also adorns the square."
