Trails lead visitors all the way to the Svinafellsjokull Glacier, where you can observe both the glacier and the affects it has had on the local terrain. There are information signs all along the trail. This sign provides photographic evidence of how glaciers have changed over the last centery or so. Two photos in particular appear to have been taken from very near this location about a hundred years ago. On the older, the date is uncertain, given as some time between 1925 and 1940. A second photo on the sign was taken here in 2019. My own photo, taken in 2024, is quite similar to the 2019 shot; at any rate, features that aren't hidden by the mist are the same in both.
Year photo was taken: 1925
