Brick City is a 16-20 year old dance club located in downtown Tacoma. The Brick City Project started in 1998 and offers music, dancing and counseling for youths 16-20. Alcohol, drugs and gang attire forbidden. Open from 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. It is home to "Club Friday", a hip-hop venue, and Club Impact, a rock venue.
Club Friday meets on Friday and features hip-hop music and live bands. Club Impact hosts Saturday night rock shows, krump dance troupe Quadian, emcee and DJ battles and other events.
The underage club is run by the Federal Way based World Vision group. It was closed July of 2006 due to a gang shooting that happened after a couple left the club, however, the city and World Vision worked to increase security guards, keep track of who attends, and they have installed video cameras outside of the building and in spots around the block. The club re-opened March of 2007 with the city's blessing and had a great opening weekend.
This location has been closed since 2009.
