In Ramybe Park in Kaunas there is a large monument with a cross entwined
with oak leaves at the top, which on closer inspection represents a sword.
The lower part consists of a collection of geometric pieces with the
following inscription on the front, of course in Lithuanian language:
We died for our country.
Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
The second sentence is a quotation from the Bible, John 15:13.
