Also known as Museu Nacional do Conjunto Cultural da República or Museu Nacional or Museu Nacional da República. Built from 1999 to 2006. Designed by Oscar Niemeyer. It was named after a student leader killed by the police while in jail during the dictatorship period (he was arrested for the fifth time in 1973 and then "disapeared").
The building is quite interesting, made of a huge semi-sphere with 24 m of radius and access through an impressive walking ramp. It has resemblances with a space shift with a touch of surreal. Inside, 4 levels are used for the museum with a total area of 14500m2. There is also an auditorium Note this is mostly an art museum.
