The City of Great Falls maintains a riparian area near the Missouri River, home to Garden Home Park. This 6-acre park is dedicated to wildlife and recreation. To enhance the local bat population, two basic bat boxes were installed in the early 2000s. These boxes are elevated on wooden posts near the river, accessible via a walking path from the park entrance. There are several species of bats in Montana, including the Big Brown Bat, Little Brown Myotis, Silver-haired Bat, and Townsend's Big-eared Bat.
