The stops are:
1) Fort d'Estrées - Senegal N 14° 40.239 W 017° 23.981
The defence of the northern end of the island had been served by small open batteries, but between 1852 and 1856 these were replaced by a circular masonry fort armed with 10x16cm RMLs mounted en barbette and named Fort d'Estrées after the admiral who had captured Gorée from the Dutch in 1677.
2) La estatue de La Libèration de L'esclavage N 14° 40.219 W 017° 23.974
The island was declared a UNESCO heritage site so that people would not forget the slavery suffered on the island for 300 years and its sale of 3 million slaves (men, women and children) plus those who perished in horrible conditions, by the Dutch, English and French.
The statue is made of stone, placed in 2002 and is the work of MRS Jean and Christian MOÏSA.

The building housing the Gorée Island Town Hall was built in 1787 by Virginie Le Gros. From 1834 to 1864, it was occupied by the island's private commandant, and a garden was laid out in 1855.

The House of Slaves (French: Maison des Esclaves) is a museum and monument to the Atlantic slave trade on the small island of Gorée, 3 km off the coast of the city of Dakar, Senegal. Its museum, opened in 1962.
