"Tórshavn Cathedral (Faroese: Havnar Kirkja or Dómkirkjan) is the second oldest church in the Faroe Islands. It was built in 1788 and is located at the northern end of the Tinganes Peninsula. It is one of the main attractions of the city. Since 1990 it has been the seat of the Bishop of the Faroe Islands.
The current church building dates from 1865. In 1935 the choir was extended by four meters and a new sacristy was added. In 1968, a number of rooms were added again.
The church's bell comes from the ship Norske Löve (Norwegian Lion), which was wrecked near Lambi on New Year's Eve in 1707. The inscription on the clock reads: Danscke Ostindische Compagnies Scheb Nordische Løwe 1704. The clock is 30 cm. long and the diameter of the outer edge is 41.5 cm.
