This rest stop is on the north side of Highway 1 (the Iceland Ring Road) about four miles / seven kilometers east of Vik. There is a large parking area, and then a short walk up a hill takes you to concrete picnic tables and two large information signs. You can also see a flood-control berm here, constructed after a flood from the glacier-fed Múlakvísl River cut off the Ring Road and swept a bridge away!
For those interested in such things, there is a geocache hidden in the rocks of the flood-control berm. Hint - it's up near the top.
