"Introduction
Columnar gas oil pump for shipping across the Gaag, manufactured around 1930 by N.V. Riel and De Graaf The Hague - Holland, for the oil company Shell. After restoration, the pump was returned to its original location on the Gaag. The fuel tank has disappeared but the interior with hand pump, filling hose and counter is almost complete. The crown on the column refers to Shell's predicate 'Royal'. The pump is unique in the Netherlands.
Description
Cylindrical gas oil pump on an octagonal base, made entirely of enamelled metal. The black and red painted base is articulated in three. The yellow, cylindrical column shaft houses the pumping unit behind a round door. Above the column a red and white crown with decorative imitation gemstone border, bands and in the top the name SHELL in a circular disc.
