The Valletta Commonwealth Walkway was opened by Her Majesty The Queen at Customs Wharf on 28 November 2015.

The Valletta Commonwealth Walkway is a walk linking significant sites of heritage and culture in the city. The route is marked with bronze markers bearing the Queen's cypher - EIIR and consists of 20 locations. The locations are not too far from each other, and you don't have to visit them in rows.


The following 20 locations are:

04 Fortress Museum (Fortifications Interpretation Centre)
05 St Paul’s Pro Cathedral
06 Manoel Theatre
07 St John’s Ambulance HQ

10 Lower Barrakka Gardens
11 Victoria Gate
12 Upper Barrakka Gardens
13 Auberge de Castille
14 Statue of Jean de Vallette
15 National Archeological Museum
16 St John’s Co-Cathedral
17 Republic Square
18 Grandmasters Palace and Armoury
19 Casa Rocca Piccola
20 The Church of St Paul’s Shipwreck

Elizabeth II (21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022).
She was Queen of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms from 6 February 1952 until her death on 8 September 2022
From 1949 to 1951, before Elizabeth became Queen, she lived with her husband the Duke of Edinburgh, later Prince Philip in Valletta where he was a naval officer.
After this, the family visited Malta several times, where they also had a home in Valletta.
