This balanced rock is located just off the road in Horn Silver Gulch, east of Ferron, Utah.

This location is easily reached by passenger vehicle when the roads are dry. It's also a great place to camp--there's a wide, flat spot with plenty of room for trailers and/or tents.

The large reddish conglomerate boulder on top is from the Cedar Mountain Formation, and now lies on top of and protects a pillar of less resistant sandstone from the Morrison Formation (likely the Brushy Basin Member).

Less than half a mile east of here is a road that branches to the north and parallels these same formations. You'll undoubtedly find many more such balanced rocks with a little exploring of the area.
