[ES] “El Obelisco Millenium es un monumento con forma de obelisco situado en el Paseo Marítimo de A Coruña (Galicia, España). Se levantó para conmemorar el inicio del siglo XXI y tiene como referentes la Torre de Hércules y el obelisco de los Cantones. Tiene 46 metros de altura y está hecho en acero (2 toneladas) y 147 cristales de roca traídos desde Países Bajos. Fue inaugurado el 1 de enero de 2001.
En los 13 primeros metros se cuenta la historia de los principales acontecimientos y personajes de A Coruña, tallados en los cristales.
De noche el obelisco Millenium se ilumina mediante 142 focos de luz (53.100 vatios). El 1 de enero de 2001 se encendió por primera vez en 12 tramos.”

[EN] “The Millenium Obelisk is an obelisk-shaped monument located on the Paseo Marítimo of A Coruña (Galicia, Spain). It was built to commemorate the beginning of the 21st century and has as references the Tower of Hercules and the Cantons Obelisk. It is 46 meters high and is made of steel (2 tons) and 147 rock crystals brought from the Netherlands. It was inaugurated on January 1, 2001.
In the first 13 meters the story of the main events and characters of A Coruña is told, carved in the glass.
At night the Millennium Obelisk is illuminated by 142 light sources (53,100 watts). On January 1, 2001, it was lit for the first time in 12 sections.”
