"Built of stone in the mid-16th century, it was made up of five arches supported by pillars, some remains of which still stand. It was built to connect the Convent of San Pablo, of the Order of Santo Domingo, with the city. The deterioration caused its demolition at the end of the 19th century. The current bridge is made of iron. Work began in 1902, designed by the Valencian civil engineer José María Fuster y Tomás, and erected by George H. Bartle, whose foundry, also Valencian, was highly renowned at that time, and was inaugurated on April 19, 1903. It is a significant example of the Eiffel-type iron architecture typical of the time. It has a height of 40 meters and a length of 110 meters."
