The book describes the most interesting monuments inside the church and the fascinating stories associated with them.

The Franciscans started building a brick church in 1343.

The length of the church is 66 m, width 25 m, height 26.75 m.

The erected church is one of the greatest Gothic hall buildings in northern Poland. It did not have a tower, but only a turret, which was in accordance with the rule of the order. Originally, each of the three naves was covered by a separate roof, which was replaced in 1798 by one huge common roof.

From the north, the church was adjoined by monastery buildings, built in a plan similar to the letter H.

During the Reformation, the church passed into the hands of the Lutherans. From 1724 it became Catholic again, in the hands of the Bernardine Order, from 1832 it became diocesan, and the parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary was established.

Before World War II, the vicar here was Fr. Stefan Wincenty Frelichowski, beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1999, proclaimed the Patron of Polish Scouting in 2003.
