Watch out for horseback riders crossing the road

There are around 400 horses on the Faroe Islands. The most widespread breed is the Icelandic horse, a small number of Norwegian Fjord horses and then the Faroese horse, which by the way has been close to extinction.
In several places you can book horse-riding trips, including on the Faroese horse.
Here at Kirkjubøarvegur, the horses cross the road because the ride is here in the hilly landscape. And that's why you have to be careful when driving. It is often foggy on the Faroe Islands and therefore poor visibility.
However, there are also many sheep that cross the roads, but they are not warned about.
