'Control line flight is the only branch of aeromodelling which provides direct physical feedback between the pilot and the modeller. i.e. You can “feel” how the model is behaving via the tension and “vibes” in the lines connecting the control handle in your hand to a triangular bell-crank within the model. The bell-crank connects to, and mechanically moves, the elevator (and sometimes wing flaps) on the aircraft.
Various types of model are flown either for fun or competition up to World Championship status in categories of SPEED, RACING, AEROBATICS, and COMBAT.' (thunderbirds.org.au)
