The steam locomotive was designed in 1946 based on documentation of pre-war industrial locomotives produced in Chrzanów. A total of 477 steam locomotives were produced. Between 1953 and 1963, 83 locomotives were exported to industrial railways in China, Romania and Hungary.
Steam locomotives carried out technological transport in hot sections of steelworks and were the most reliable locomotives used by industrial plants. Steam locomotives were used on sidings of industrial plants until the end of the 20th century. The monumental exhibit from Torun is one of only a dozen or so locomotives of this type preserved to this day in Poland (in various states). It has serial number 5564 and dates from 1956.

On September 20, 1988, the locomotive was handed over to the Torun Kluczyki Locomotive Plant free of charge and renovated.
On May 22, 1993, the locomotive was placed in front of the railway station.
