"Esta estatua de Neptuno de 14 metros de altura (de ahí el nombre de Gigante) pesa 170 toneladas y es de hormigón armado. Fue construida en 1910 por Arrigo Minerbi, bajo la dirección del arquitecto Francesco Levacher, para sostener una terraza de la Villa Pastine, residencia de la familia del mismo nombre. Bombardeada durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial y gravemente dañada por las tormentas, en la actualidad está parcialmente amputada: el dios Neptuno aparece sin brazos y con una sola pierna. De Villa Pastine sólo queda una torre."
