"The octagonal bell tower, 40 meters high, rests directly on the four pillars of the presbytery.

The church of Santa Margherita is a place of Catholic worship located in the municipality of Vernazza, in via Ettore Vernazza, in the province of La Spezia. The church is the seat of the parish of the same name of the vicariate of the Riviera of the diocese from La Spezia-Sarzana-Brugnato.

According to some sources, a first religious building emerged, in Romanesque style, already in the 11th or 12th century. The new church was rebuilt, on the foundations of the previous one, by the Magistri Antelami, probably already in the 13th century as the building is mentioned, for the first time, in a document dated 1318.

The studies and surveys carried out raise the hypothesis that the original church must have had a basilica-style plan with three naves and as many apses."
