While geocaching in Lommel, I noticed this lovely windmill. Later on, I read on the sign near the entrance of the forest (near the large butterfly) that the windmill had been relocated in 2018

According to Wikipedia about the mill
"The Leyssensmolen is a post mill in Kattenbos in the Belgian municipality of Lommel. It is also called Treitermolen or Kattenbossermolen.

The mill was built in 1797 and was originally located in Olmen. It was built by the owner of a watermill, namely the Straalmolen, as a protest against the establishment in the vicinity of the so-called 'free mills', which could arise when the seigneurial rights, and thus the ban mills, were abolished in the French period. . One of these free mills was the Heimolen, another standard mill. That is why the Leyssens mill was also called the treiter mill. It has always served as a flour mill. The Straalmolen was owned by the Leyssens family.

The mill was sold in 1804 and was rebuilt from 1808 to 1809 on the Frans van Hamstraat in Lommel. In 1960, the mill was purchased by the Lommel municipal council and was dismantled in 1963, to be rebuilt in Kattenbos on Zandstraat in 1964 without a grinding mechanism. In 1989 the mill was made ready for grinding again.

The mill has been standing still since 2003, because a new restoration of the mill is required. Due to the relocation, the mill does not catch enough wind, because it is located in the middle of forests. That is why it was decided to restore it in 2007, during which the mill was also moved to a hill further along the Zandstraat."
