"La fortaleza está ubicada en lo alto de un cerro junto a la desembocadura del río Arade , siendo utilizada para defender el estuario de ese río, junto con el Fuerte de Santa Catarina .

Su estructura tiene forma toscamente trapezoidal, destacando por su gran verticalidad, con el fin de garantizar el control y defensa de un área más amplia, teniendo una silueta que sería visible desde grandes distancias. Se considera una fortificación de muralla , compuesta por una torre del homenaje con varios cuerpos adosados, de diferentes alturas, formando plataformas que probablemente servirían para albergar baterías. Una de las habitaciones da al mar, con caseta de vigilancia y varias ventanas de perfil quebrado."

"The fortress is located on top of a hill next to the mouth of the Arade River, being used to defend the estuary of that river, along with the Fort of Santa Catarina.

Its structure has a roughly trapezoidal shape, standing out for its great verticality, in order to guarantee the control and defense of a larger area, having a silhouette that would be visible from great distances. It is considered a wall fortification, composed of a keep with several attached bodies, of different heights, forming platforms that would probably serve to house batteries. "One of the rooms faces the sea, with a guardhouse and several broken profile windows."
