This Community Commemoration is located in Cupids, Newfoundland along Seaforest Drive. The plaque is located on a small floating pier that has a large flag pole.
The plaque was placed to commemorate the 375th anniversary of Cupids' founding by documenting the nearby flag pole, which was placed to commemorate the 300th anniversary of Cupids in 1910. The flag pole was designed to fly the largest Union Jack flag in the British Empire.

ON AUGUST 24, 1985
TO COMMEMORATE THE 375TH ANNIVERSARY OF CUPIDS,
THE FIRST OFFICIAL SETTLEMENT IN NEWFOUNDLAND.
ON THIS SITE IN 1910 TO COMMEMORATE THE 300TH
ANNIVERSARY OF CUPIDS A FLAGPOLE WAS ERECTED TO
FLY THE LARGEST UNION JACK IN THE BRITISH EMPIRE.
THE ORIGINAL FLAG (22'X 36') HAS BEEN RETIRED AND
A REPLACEMENT FLAG (23'X 46') FLIES HERE ON HOLIDAYS
AND SPECIAL OCCASIONS.
