Atop the Riverside Tavern restaurant is a mesh whale swinging freely in the wind as a weathervane.

The tavern is quite a large building and the weathervane is quite high, so you may need a good telephoto lens to get the best shot of this unique weathervane. Even in the low wind of the time that I was photographing the nearby Marine Rescue dock and buildings the whale was readily swinging around. The actual species of whale is in question, as it looks as if it is more from a drawing of 'Jonah and the Whale'. It doesn't correlate with any of the regular migratory cetaceans of the eastern Australian coast: Humpback, Southern Right, Blue, Minke, or Killer Whales.
