This synagogue has been here for a long time, probably from the pre-Islamic days. However, the building that we can visit these days dates from 1892 and it was recently renovated and inaugurated with the presence of the President of Egypt in 2023.
Accordingly to CNN it's one of the oldest synagogues in the world:

Although it can be considered an active synagogue, the inexistence of a Jewish community makes it more like a tourist attraction than an active temple.
