"Saint-Job est invoqué pour toute maladie du sang. On retrouve la trace de ce culte dans des délibérations communales de la ville de 1780 mais celui-ci était déjà établi depuis de nombreuses années. Le premier pèlerinage officiel n'eut lieu qu'en 1938 à l'Ascension mais là aussi, dans les délibérations communales de 1836, on retrouve la trace d'une proposition du conseil communal d'allouer des indemnités pour la formation d'une compagnie de Saint-Job. Celle-ci ne vit cependant jamais le jour. Né en l'an 170 avant J.C., le patriarche Job était un modèle de vertu, craignant Dieu, élevant ses enfants dans la piété. Le Seigneur, qui se plaisait lui-même à rendre hommage à la sainteté de son serviteur, permit au diable de lui faire subir des épreuves les plus terribles à condition de lui laisser la vie sauve.
La fontaine jaillit du sol au milieu de deux piliers supportant une colonne avec entablement sur lequel est posée une statue de Saint-Job. L'ensemble est situé sur la place de Mettet au centre d'un bassin en forme de fer à cheval."
