[EN] Sculpture made of Corten steel. The central motif is books that come out of a cage and fly free, symbolizing the freedom that education provides, on its pedestal we can read, in Spanish: EDUCATION MAKES US FREE.

As I approached this sculpture I discovered a plaque with the inscription, in Spanish:

TIME CAPSULE
2013>>>2038

With this information I searched the internet and this is what I found:

"This time capsule contains, in digital format, more than one thousand three hundred works by students from 13 educational centers on the occasion of a contest on education. Along with them, three daily newspapers and a Marea Verde(*) t-shirt have been introduced.

What is intended is that future generations and these children today, in 25 years, can open this time capsule and see what current education was like.

The idea, Robles highlighted, has been to involve all the groups and residents of the neighborhood in an initiative that will not only reorganize traffic in this area, with the roundabout made for this purpose, but will also represent a recognition of the importance of education.”

(*) Marea Verde (Green Tide) is the name given to the set of protests against cuts in education that began to occur in Spain, mainly in the Community of Madrid, at the beginning of the 2011/2012 school year.
