The statue of Kamzík, called the Deer jump, stands on a rock cliff in the spa forests and inherently belongs to Karlovy Vary. It was created in 1851 in the studio of the Berlin sculptor August Kiss. This zinc statue was destroyed in 1984. A bronze copy was made in 1986 by the Karlovy Vary sculptor Jan Kotek.

In 1850, local councillors were inspired by the legend and decided to place a statue of a deer on the rock above the Teplá River. However, when they calculated the financial costs of the statue, the idea of the deer was replaced by the idea of at least placing a memorial plaque here. Baron August von Lützow, a wealthy geek and lover of Karlovy Vary, took advantage of this indecision and the city's financial problems and in 1851 secretly placed a metal statue of a chamois on the spot designated by the city, which he commissioned from the Berlin sculptor August Kiss. He then defended himself before the town council by saying that as a hunter he could not agree with the theory that a deer had jumped from this steep rock into the abyss, only a chamois could have done so.

The staircase is a part of the tourist route, which leads in close proximity to the sightseeing point Deer jump idirectly into the city centre.
