When wandering through utrecht, we encountered this nice piece of art. Lots of parts moving and balls rolling once you have moved in front of the sensors (at the bottom).

About the art piece by Charles Morgan:
"The wonderful world of Charles Morgan
It was designer André Postma who enthusiastically told the museum about the moving works of art by Charles Morgan. During an assignment for the Swiss Nestlé factory, he saw people crowding around the window of a store in which marbles set all kinds of objects in motion.

Humor is the trademark of Charles Morgan (1951), son of a Swiss father and English mother. He combines the mechanical precision of Swiss clockmakers with the quirky and absurdist humor reminiscent of Monty Python. The result is always a colorful moving work of art, often consisting of a central marble track to which 'found objects' are connected that move through the marbles. The movement continues through the entire work of art via a real chain reaction.

Museum Speelklok invited Charles Morgan to the museum and to the restoration studio. For the new artwork to be created, he was allowed to make a selection from a box full of parts that had been collected over the years: cogs, metal springs, organ pipes. No historical material, but still too beautiful to throw away. Morgan was so enthusiastic that he decided to incorporate everything into the artwork and add objects from his own studio. He placed toys on the bottom especially for the smallest children.

In 2017, the Friends of the museum raised the money to purchase the artwork; Since the spring of 2022 it has been in the display case on the outer facade of Museum Speelklok.

Do you want to turn on the artwork? Then hold your hand in front of the light sensors at the bottom right of the display case."
